چکیده
Urban floods are detrimental to societies, and flood mapping techniques provide essential support for decision-making on the better management of risks. This study presents a GIS-based characterization methodology rapid efficient identification urban flood-prone areas, which is especially relevant large-scale hazards emergency assessments data-scarce studies. The results suggested that optimal was achieved by adopting median values thresholds local depression extraction, topographic wetness index (TWI) aggregation analyses. showed constraints extraction TWI methods proposed improve performance. A new performance indicator further introduced evaluation ability hazard mapping. It shown developed has much lower demand data computation efforts in comparison traditional two-dimensional models and, meanwhile, provides relatively accurate robust hazards.

A web GIS based integrated flood assessment modeling tool for coastal urban watersheds
Urban flooding has become an increasingly important issue in many parts of the world. In this study, an integrated flood assessment model (IFAM) is presented for the coastal urban flood simulation. A web based GIS framework has been adopted to organize the spatial datasets for the study area considered and to run the model within this framework. The integrated flood model consists of a mass bal...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Gis Modeling Approach for Urban Land Evaluation
Present analytical functions and conventional cartographic modeling techniques in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are based on Boolean logic, which implicitly assumes that objects in a spadal database and their attributes can be uniquely defined. The inherent constraint of the classical set theory does not allow for partial set membership conditions and imprecise information in GIS. The in...
متن کاملHazard Assessment Modeling: An Evolutionary Ensemble Approach
This paper presents a novel and effective genetic algorithm approach for generating computational models for hazard assessment. With millions of proposed chemicals being registered each year, it is impossible to come even remotely close to completing the battery of tests needed for the proper understanding of the toxic effects of these chemicals. Computer models can give quick, cheap, and envir...

متن کاملFlood Hazard Mapping using Aster Image data with GIS
Flood is one of the most devastating natural hazards which lead to the loss of lives, properties and resources. It has therefore become important to create easily read, rapidly accessible flood hazard map, which will prioritize the mitigation effects. This study addresses the need for an efficient and cost-effective methodology for preparing flood hazard maps in Ghana, particularly those region...
